Big Sky, MT Primary Closet

Designed and built in September 2024, this primary closet renovation in Big Sky, Montana focused on maximizing function while feeling thoughtful and personalized to the clients’ needs. I met closely with the clients to understand how they used their existing closet and where it fell short, particularly around storage and organization. Through multiple client presentations, we refined and approved a layout that addressed their functional needs while making the most of the available space.

Floor Plans

The existing floor plan included a sauna adjacent to the shower; however, the clients prioritized additional closet storage and decided to remove the sauna. This allowed for a complete reconfiguration of the space and the creation of a full walk-in closet tailored to their storage requirements. By rethinking the footprint, we were able to maximize every inch of available space, including accommodating a floor to ceiling shoe storage cabinet. The final layout makes the closet feel both spacious and highly functional while taking full advantage of the existing square footage.

Drawings and Renderings

His side was designed with an emphasis on short-hang storage and drawer configurations to accommodate pants, snow gear, ties, and glasses. Her side features a combination of short and long hang storage to allow for dresses and long coats. The center section serves as shared storage for items such as sweaters and larger garments. Shoe storage was designed with adjustable shelving to accommodate a range of shoe and boot sizes, ensuring flexibility and functionality.

Material selections were kept simple - match the existing closet and surrounding space. By aligning finishes and colors with what was already in place, the new closet feels seamless and cohesive, almost as if it had always been there.
